As a national leading brain convergence research institute, Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI) is the government-funded research institution under the direct control of Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and was founded in 2011 to lead Korea to become a global powerhouse in research on the final frontier of science, human brain. We are actively searching for highly motivated and qualified researchers.

 

Common Requirement

Master’s degree in related fields is essential requirement. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in the area of related fields (These should be proved by official documents). Also excellent English and interpersonal skills are required. All applicants who can travel abroad should not be unqualified in accordance with the Article 33 of the State Public Officials Act and should have no issues with military service.

 

Job De ion

Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience Lab

Master’s degree in the area of neurobiology (preference will be given to Ph.D) is required. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in electrophysiology. Candidates will be in charge of performing analyses of behavior and neurophysiological studies for cognitive functions of the brain; management of experimental animals; procurement of experimental equipment; material management; administrative work related to research.

 

Systems Neuroscience and Movement Disorders Lab

Post Doc /Technician positions (2-3 years) in the laboratory of Systems Neuroscience and Movement Disorders at the Korean Brain Research Institute (KBRI) are available. Individuals with an interest in neuropsychiatric disease, movement disorders, basal ganglia, and deep brain stimulation are invited to apply for positions working on the development, analysis and implementation of efficient computational algorithms for decoding three-dimensional, spatially-resolved neural signals. Applicants should be proficient in scientific computing, hold an MSc or PhD in a related field; familiarity with any of the following software environments would be a plus.

C/C++/pthreads/OpenMP/TBB

Numpy/Gnumpy

Linux/sysadmin/DBA

GPGPU (OpenCL/CUDA) programming

Familiarity with circuit design and logic control would also be useful.

Applicants must be able to speak English.

 

Mechanoneuroscience Lab

Master’s degree in the area of biology or related (preference will be given to Ph.D) is required. Qualified candidate will perform research on cell biology, microscopy and brain development research. Moreover, duties also include management of experimental animals; procurement of experimental equipment; material management; administrative work related to research.

 

Further information

All positions are full time and the annual salary per each position will be under 40,000,000 KRW (approximately $36,000 USD). Salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience.

- The person with excellent computer skills;

- The person who has experience in publishing SCI-level journals as a lead author or the one who can write a paper in English;

- The person who has experience in working at the laboratories related to positions.

 

 

Procedure

Step 1: For the first step, basic qualifications, academic achievements, and work experience of applicants will be thoroughly reviewed based on submitted documents.

Step 2: Next, applicants who have gone through the first step will be interviewed to uate their competency, attitude and professionalism.

Step 3: Lastly, applicants who have passed previous steps will be interviewed by the president of KBRI.

For the Step 1, please fill out the attached ‘Application Form’, ‘List of research performance’ and ‘Personal Information Collection and Usage Agreement’ forms. Then, please submit these documents by E-mail as a single PDF file to job2015@kbri.re.kr no later than 2pm, April 23th, 2015 (Seoul time). The subject of this E-mail should include ‘name of applicant’ and ‘name of the research lab that you apply’. If your application does not follow above-mentioned instructions, it will not be considered.

The person who makes through the document screening process must bring following documents on the day of interview for the Step 2:

- A original copy of certificate of graduation (Master’s or Ph.D Degree)

- A original copy of Certificate of Career and License (Relevant person)

Other Notes

Multiple applications will not be admitted. Each applicant must apply for one position (lab). Your work experience, publications, licenses must be verified by official documents since these will be reviewed by the KBRI Human Resources Team. If presented documents are proven to be false, the acceptance will be revoked. Furthermore, if an applicant fails to pass a security check or physical examination for recruitment, the acceptance will also be revoked.
